New Air Quality Review Platform "Moldmap" Helps Users Find Healthy Indoor Environments

Indoor air quality continues to be a growing concern for many Americans, particularly those with sensitivities to common pollutants like mold. A new platform called Moldmap addresses this need by allowing users to share and access reviews about air quality in public and rental spaces.

Born from Personal Experience

Justin Carlson, CEO and founder of Invivus Technologies, created Moldmap after his own health crisis in 2020. Following a diagnosis of Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS) caused by indoor mold exposure, Carlson recognized a critical resource gap for people seeking healthy indoor environments.

"We have so few options for places that have healthy indoor air quality, which is particularly important for people with sensitivities," explains Carlson. "I knew that I wanted to create a platform that helps people find places that have healthy indoor quality."

Crowdsourcing for Cleaner Air

The Moldmap platform works by crowdsourcing information from users who can provide air quality insights and reviews for various locations including:

  • Rental properties
  • Gyms
  • Hotels
  • Restaurants

Since its launch just a few weeks ago, the platform has already collected approximately 1,400 location reviews globally, demonstrating significant public interest in air quality information.

From Idea to Reality

Carlson's journey from concept to launch involved collaboration with several organizations, including Invent@NMU and Innovate Marquette Smartzone. Through these partnerships, Invivus Technologies secured grant funding that proved essential for Moldmap's development and marketing efforts.

"Through that, we have some grant money that we've been able to use for development of Moldmap, which has been critical as well as some marketing. That's really what has allowed me to get Moldmap off the ground," says Carlson.

Looking Forward

Currently available as a free website at moldmap.io, Invivus Technologies plans to release a mobile app in the near future to make air quality information even more accessible.

Why Mold Maps Matter

At Air Oasis, we understand the critical importance of healthy indoor air. While our air purification systems work to eliminate harmful pollutants including mold spores, resources like Moldmap complement these efforts by helping consumers make informed decisions about the spaces they visit and occupy.

For those concerned about indoor air quality in their homes or businesses, combining awareness tools like Moldmap with effective air purification systems provides a comprehensive approach to creating healthier indoor environments.
